Under normal circumstances, the Sierra RS Cosworth`s breather system is adequate for the job. That is, until the boost levels are raised, which can make the original breather very restrictive. This is because with the boost pressured raised there is an increase of pressure getting past the piston rings causing the crankcase to come under pressure, which can cause oil consumption to rise.

Fitting an uprated oil breather system can reduce oil consumption, and helps eliminate the oily air that is produced in the system. The oil breather separates the oil from the air by a series of baffles, returning the oil to the sump below the oil level & filtering the cleaner air to either a catch tank or to atmosphere, whichever is desired.

The Escort RS Cosworth Group A oil breather has been designed to breath off both sides of the crankcase and return back to the sump below the oil level. Special fittings are available for fitment of these systems
