Charge Coolers
Escort RS Turbo S2 Charge Cooler : £485.00
One of the most important things to consider when running higher boost than standard on a turbocharged car is the Air Charge Temperatures. This is the temperature of the inlet air going into the engine. The lower these temperatures, the more dense the air, and so therefore better combustion is achieved, resulting in more power.
A Charge Cooler is a very good way of helping to keep the ACTs down when the boost levels have been raised on an Escort RS Turbo. The Charge Cooler is made up of various components. The Charge Cooler Radiator has water flowing through it, which is cooled by the air flow past the car as the car drives forwards. The cooled water from the Charge Cooler radiator is then passed around a water jacketed intercooler, cooling the inlet air flowing through the intercooler. The water is pumped around the system by a high speed pump at around 13 litres per minute. There is a water reservoir to hold a supply of water for the system.
